If you didn’t already know back in 2016 (that feels weird to say) I won a competition and because of that I was given the chance to write my very own cookbook! Since then I’ve hosted two supper clubs, turned 24, been featured in Red Magazine, graduated with a degree in Mathematics and of course written 100 recipes for my book. Let that sink in .. 100. The past 6 months has been a very big blur!
Hibiscus on Amazon
Despite how quickly the year has gone by I’m proud to announce that my book, Hibiscus, will be out on the 1st of June and is available to pre-order right this minute on amazon (shut the front door!).
It’s a collection of recipes to introduce you to Nigerian culture (through my own interpretations) as well as give you some insight into my upbringing and love for Nigerian food. I’ve always enjoyed creating and developing new recipes but it makes me even happier to know that I get to share part of my culture with people who are completely unaware of it.
I can’t express my thanks to my friends and family who encouraged me to start writing recipes and share them online as well as those who egged me on during this competition. On top of all of this the Guardian has named me a Rising Star 2017! Imagine that! Read all about it here.
Most of this all started as a hobby on the side so it’s been delightful to see what it’s become and have so many people tell me they’re proud of me. The book deal and the Guardian are affirmations that I’m where I belong doing something I love! It’s been an amazing few months and I can’t wait to show you what’s to come next. I hope you’ll be just as excited about this journey as I am!
